The wear properties of wool & co.

As we knitting enthusiasts all know, not all wool is the same. In addition, there are countless natural fibres that wool buyers with sustainability and environmental awareness. The range of high-quality yarns is constantly growing and the assortment offers an unprecedentedly wide range. Everyone will find something to suit their personal taste.

In addition to the classic merino wool, LANA GROSSA uses other animal hairs as the basis for the best yarn qualities for creative knitting. The animal suppliers include the long-haired South African mohair goat. The finest material comes from the cashmere goat, which is also at home in Mongolia and the Himalayas. The hair of alpacas and lamas, from the South American small camel family, is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers as it contains a small amount of lanolin (wool fat).

In addition to vegan fibres such as cotton and linen, more and more regenerative and alternative qualities are being added to the LANA GROSSA portfolio. These include recycled linen and wool in accordance with the RWS standard, as well as Ecovero – an environmentally friendly viscose with low water consumption. Lyocell (Tencel), for example, is obtained from the cellulose fibres of wood from sustainable forestry and is biodegradable.
